I received my master’s in Counseling Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Southern Maine. My bachelor’s degree is from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
My previous careers led me to counseling. Working in the food service industry taught me to manage my time under pressure. Working as a reporter and magazine food editor taught me to listen and retell a story accurately. Working as a nursing assistant showed me how to care for people respectfully and compassionately. I provide unconditional compassion and acceptance to my clients and a safe space to grow and heal.
We all have a lot going on, more than we even know! Issues arise within our families, at work, and in our relationships. Internally, you may battle with self-worth, negative self-talk, or attachment issues. I’m here to help you make contact with the part of you that you'd like to better understand. Together, we can work through the uncertainty and figure out what you need, what you want, and what will make you more whole.
Sometimes, counseling is for a short while to help you clear your mind and make things more manageable. Sometimes, counseling uncovers more issues you didn't realize were there. Together, we will create a plan and revise it as needed.
I'm excited to get to know you and look forward to connecting soon.
